Behind Fennec’s Sound Production stands sound engineer, musician, and instrument designer Julian Fuchs. Born in 1993 in Fulda (DE), he has been living and working in Zurich with his family since 2019.
His work spans nearly all facets of creative sound design. Since beginning his sound engineering studies at the Zurich University of the Arts in 2019, his focus has been on sound design and production for film and music projects. Among his various roles, he worked as the sound designer for the award-winning newcomer film Die Anhörung – The Hearing and contributed as a producer and mixing engineer to the creation of LES, the experimental pop album by Les Enfants Sauvages.
A major influence on his artistic approach comes from his prior music studies, where he majored in piano at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre, graduating in 2017. His musical work ranges from jazz trios to chamber ensembles, and he continues to compose and arrange for a variety of formations. Currently, he is a member of Momotrope, a band dedicated to exploring novel synthetic soundscapes.
Since 2023, he has also been deeply involved in the development and construction of audio hardware. His first completed product, the Grainmother – a multi-effects device based on the BELA platform – was released in 2025.
The various aspects of sound design continuously enrich and influence each other, seamlessly blending in his work. For Julian, the diversity of his creative fields is not a balancing act but rather an endless playground of creative possibilities.
